Orthotics at ChiroActive

gaitscanIf you have abnormal wear patterns on your shoes or pain in your feet, you may benefit from custom-made orthotics at ChiroActive.

We offer a complimentary computerized gait scan to all new patients. Dr. Trina and Dr. Brian provide this service on your first visit at our office. With a deep understanding of the biomechanics in your feet, we know how they can affect the rest of the body, all the way up to your hips and back. Often, spinal problems can be related to your feet, and our gait scan technology will assess your needs.

Gaining a Stronger Foundation

Orthotics have been heavily researched and shown to benefit conditions like plantar fasciitis, metatarsalgia (ball-of-the-foot pain) or anyone who could use more support for their feet. They can fit into many different types of regular shoes, giving you the extra support you need.

Orthotic Technology

ChiroActive uses the most up to date, state of the art technology when manufacturing your new custom-made Orthotics. We use the power of mobile scanning on an iPad device powered by a 3D Sensor technology. The system is lightweight, easy to use, environmentally friendly and provides true, reproducible 3D cast profiles.

For the Biomechanical Gait Analysis, we use the Gaitscan Technology along with specific measurements done by the chiropractor.

3-D Laser Orthotics

3D Laser

Our laser 3D scanner uses industry leading technology to provide you with a portable, quick, and easy way to capture 3D scans/casts of your foot. The Orthotic Group (TOG) and Atlas footwear use 100% volumetric casts and cast data captured from our 3D Laser Scanner.

Production of all custom foot orthotics is carried out using 3D casts to vacuum form raw materials to produce the prescribed shell of the patient’s requirements.

In addition, the 3D scanner replaces the need for foam boxes and plaster as the 3D Scan rendition of the patient’s feet which is needed to meet insurance requirements in most Canadian jurisdictions.

Here are 10 compelling reasons to get foot orthotics, especially
if you’re experiencing foot, leg, or postural issues:

  1. Pain Relief: Orthotics help reduce or eliminate pain in the feet, ankles, knees, hips, and lower back by providing proper support and alignment.
  2. Correct Foot Imbalances: Conditions like flat feet, high arches, or overpronation can be corrected or managed with custom orthotics.
  3. Prevent Injury: By supporting the foot’s natural alignment, orthotics reduce the risk of common injuries like plantar fasciitis, shin splints, and Achilles tendonitis.
  4. Improve Posture and Alignment: Orthotics can improve your overall body alignment, helping reduce strain on joints and muscles.
  5. Enhance Athletic Performance: Athletes often use orthotics to stabilize their gait and reduce fatigue, helping them perform better and recover faster.
  6. Relieve Pressure Points: Custom orthotics can redistribute pressure on the feet, which is especially beneficial for people with diabetes or arthritis.
  7. Aid in Recovery: After surgery or injury, orthotics can support proper healing by stabilizing foot and leg motion.
  8. Accommodate Foot Deformities: Bunions, hammertoes, and other structural foot issues can be supported and cushioned to improve mobility and comfort.
  9. Support for Active Lifestyles: People who stand or walk for long hours benefit from orthotics that reduce fatigue and foot strain.
  10. Long-Term Joint Health: By optimizing biomechanics, orthotics can prevent long-term wear and tear on your knees, hips, and spine.

Orthotic Insurance Coverage

We’ve worked with all insurance companies and understand how to complete the necessary paperwork to claim your orthotics. Some companies can be directly billed, and others can be directly submitted.

  • Most plans allow chiropractors to dispense orthotics as we are licensed to do so.
  • Most plans need/require a dr. note referral which we can help with.
  • Some insurance plans only allow Chiropodists, Podiatrists, or Pedorthists to prescribe/dispense orthotics so please check with your insurance.
  • We do not direct bill or have the capability to direct bill for orthotics, but we do provide the 5 pieces of insurance paperwork to submit for reimbursement successfully.
